The event is being held at the Cohen Pavilion at the Kravis Center, 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach. The program begins promptly at noon with buffet lines opening at 11:15 a.m.
Mahoney was elected two years ago after incumbent Rep. Mark Foley’s sudden tumble from office. The freshman congressman serves on the House Financial Services Committee and is the only Florida representative serving on the House Agriculture Committee. Before his election to Congress, Mahoney was chairman, COO and founder of vFinance Inc. and the founder and president of the Center for Innovative Entrepreneurship.
Rooney won a three-candidate Republican primary Aug. 26 for the right to challenge Mahoney. The 37-year-old Tequesta attorney is a former Army captain who taught constitutional and criminal law at West Point. He is a scion of the family that owns the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Palm Beach Kennel Club.
District 16 stretches from the west coast of Florida to the east coast and includes portions of Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, Highlands, Glades, Hendry and Charlotte counties.
